Sample Itinerary for Hunting Blandford Urial

Day 01

Arrival at Islam abad International Airport / Karachi, International flights normally arrive after midnight. After meeting the outfitter’s representative at the international arrivals and clearance of rifles then transfer to domestic departure for your flight to Karachi. You will have breakfast at the restaurant in the airport while waiting for the 2-hour domestic flight to Karachi. Upon arrival, you will be received by the outfitter’s staff and continue to the hunting area (2:30 – 3hrs). Some areas in Baluchistan are up to an 11-hour drive to the guest house/main hunting camp.

Drop at the Airport for the International flight to return home.

(please note that every evening during the hunt you will return to the guest house/main hunting camp).

Season

The hunting season for Blandford Urial starts as early as October 1st and runs through the end of March. Early and late season hunts are more difficult due to high temperatures and are not highly recommended. The best times are between mid-November and mid-January when the weather is most favorable for hunting. The success rate is close to 100%, making this hunt successful regardless of the period chosen.

Area

Blandford Urial can be found in the Baluchistan Plateau and Sindh, with scattered populations across arid mountain ranges. Hunting areas include the renowned Dureji area and another newer location with equally high-quality trophies.

How to Get There

Hunters must fly into Islamabad/Karachi, (if Islamabad they will be greeted by a representative who assists with rifle clearance, followed by a domestic flight to Karachi). The hunting areas are a 3-4 hour ride from Karachi on the highway, accompanied by our Caprinae rep throughout the trip.

Accommodation

Guests are accommodated in the family guest houses of local ruling families, offering a bedroom with a private bathroom. The guest houses are centrally located, and hunting areas can be reached within a 20-60 minute drive.

Weather

In October, temperatures can reach up to 100°F (38°C) and drop to around 90°F (32°C) by the end of the month. December and January offer the most comfortable conditions with temperatures around 64°F (18°C), allowing for all-day hunting. Early and late hours may be chilly but not cold.

Altitude

Hunting areas range from 600 to 2,100 feet (180 to 640 meters), with the highest point being Mount Bhuedar at around 3,300 feet (1,000 meters).

Hunting Method

Each day starts with breakfast at the guest house, followed by a 20-60 minute drive to the hunting area. Hunters will proceed on foot, accompanied by local guides who are knowledgeable about the area. Trophy quality is high, and a successful hunt typically takes 1-2 days.

Duration of the Hunt

This hunt typically lasts for 5 days, including 2 days of travel, with 3 full hunting days. Most hunts conclude successfully within the first 2 days.
